You’ve finished your manuscript. You’re ready to publish. But now you’re facing one of the biggest hurdles in self-publishing … formatting.
For many Australian authors, this is where the excitement slows to a crawl. Overseas formatters work in different time zones, charge in foreign currencies, and often take weeks to respond. Others try to learn the formatting software themselves, only to find it eats up hours they could spend writing.
At Page Turner Studios, we believe in keeping things simple, local, and reliable. You write. We format. You publish quickly and confidently.
Our Formatting Process
We’ve made the process as simple as possible through our online submission form.
When you book, you’ll be asked to provide:
- Your manuscript (Word document only)
- Book details, including title, series name, and trim size (5×8, 5.5×8.5, 6×9, or custom)
- Where your book will be printed (KDP, IngramSpark, or your preferred printer)
- Your ISBN and cover designer’s details
- Your preferred header and page break style
- Your chosen fonts (if known) or we’ll match the cover font
- Notes about any themes or design elements you’d like reflected
You can even tell us if your story includes text message conversations or other special layout requirements so we can make sure they appear correctly.
Our Standard Style
Our goal is to make your interior design feel cohesive with your cover and story.
- Body font: YOUNG SERIF at 12pt (or another of your choice)
- Heading font: Your choice, or we’ll match your cover as closely as possible
- Consistent page flow: You choose whether new chapters start on the right page or alternate
Custom page breaks: Asterisks, em-dashes, or icons related to your story
What Happens After You Submit?
Once we receive your enquiry, we’ll send you a Manuscript Description Form. This form helps us gather the finer details about your book and your preferred formatting style so we can accurately quote and prepare your project.
After we’ve reviewed your information, we’ll send through a formal invoice and Book Formatting Agreement for signing.
Once payment and the signed contract are received, we’ll send you a confidential upload link where you can safely provide your manuscript file.
Within a few days of receiving your manuscript, we’ll send a sample demo layout to confirm you’re happy with the overall design before we complete the full format.
After approval, your final print-ready PDF and ePub files will be delivered within seven business days (or sooner if agreed).
